Wordy’s music reframes familiar structures within a blend of rock, pop, and blues. The end effect is a kaleidoscope of color and beautiful noise.” -Ethan Fogus, Immersive Atlanta.

About

Wordy V (word-ee the fifth) , An experimental multi-rock collaboration launched by songwriter, Will Pass. Independently created alternative sound influenced by groups like Wilco, The Kinks, and My Morning Jacket.

In the Spring of 2018, Wordy V started to take shape as a studio project at Standard Electric Recorders, in Decatur, GA. Produced by former band member and long time friend, Damon Moon, of Sydney Eloise and the Palms..

“It wasn’t until I heard Damon was opening a new recording studio, that I really thought about recording my songs.” Pass remembers. “I figured it would be fun to book some time, support the studio, and get to hang out with good buds… And it was!”

Moon’s influence of 60s pop, garage, psychedelic, and a love of Richard Swift, steered Pass into fuzz guitar, boutique drum sounds, and Moon’s beautiful world of historical charismatic preamps, mixers, microphones, and early electric organs. That patch bay world of fun became the conduit used in writing the debut single, "Wild Guess”, in February of 2021.

In September of 2021, “Naked Stoned Sunburn Queen”, was released. A country song about metaphorical American spring break culture. An abstract commentary on paradise gone wrong.

In January of 2022, Wordy V’s first LP-”User Guide”, was released into the digital wilderness. A debut of songs written about fear, hope, and love. Pass had a vision of film sets for most of the songs on the work. Like a small-time inventor he used the studio to experiment sonically, creating spaces and worlds. Settings like a celebratory bonfire in a forrest, A cave of never before seen secrets, and an open road chase scene with an other-worldly motorcycle club. “User Guide” is like ten television channels to flip through.
